Monday 11/3/14 Case Study (50 Word Minimum)

The Case of the Inadequate Planning

A group of students decide to hold a benefit concert for a local charity, which will need to close its doors if it doesn't receive enough funding .They go through the work of reserving space, inviting members of the President's cabinet, and placing posters around campus and in the community . Many churches are excited about the event and plan on bringing their youth groups to it . The charity is very excited by the concert because it will keep their doors open, the students are excited because they are able to help make a significant difference in the community, and the administration is happy because it's great publicity for the school; everybody wins .

One week before the concert, it is abundantly clear that the students did not make adequate arrangements for lighting, sound systems, or security . Unless more sound and lighting are reserved before the event, the concert will be a disaster and without enough security, the safety of those who attend could be in question . Your repeated and increasingly urgent reminders have gone unanswered because the students think you're just overreacting .

> What would you do?
> At what point would it become necessary to cancel the event?

  1. I would keep asking around for help and support. I would look up different bands or performers to perform. I would also seek out different sound and lighting specialists. I would try my best to get them to come and help us. I would pay a little extra if I really had to because the charity means a lot to everyone in the community. I would cancel it a day before if I had no one to help out.

  2. I just ask around the community for help and support. I would see if there were any other bands that had better lighting and sound system. For security I would ask the local polices. I wouldn't want to spend any extra money than I needed so I would ask others to help out and explain to the band and the security what it was for and see if they would do it for a lower rate. I would try my best not to cancel it because I know how much it means to the community.

  3. If you want something done right do it yourself. Clearly these teenagers are stupid and deserve to be struck in the head with a 2 by 4. If the concert were not for charity I wouldn't do anything and let those idiots kids have a sucky concert. Since it is for charity I would have to do manly and arrange the lights and sound equipment myself. As for security I will just do an anonymous tip to the police that there might be drugs at the concert and they will send a patrolman to investigate and he will apprehend anyone that does something wrong. I would also hire people to dress up like cops to give people the a sense that they must behave or be arrested.

  4. I would ask for a help and support i would see if they had all the lights and sound system for it and for security I would ask the the polite officers to help and tell them what its for and maybe they would help and lower the prices and would come help and make the night great for the committee

  5. I would try fixing the situation by making some phone calls and seeing if anyone would be interested in helping out. If no one is interested in helping the event, I would eventually cancel it. The students should be more involved in an event if they really want it to happen. The consequence is up to them.

  6. Well if they are not planning for everything and they do not have what they need they need to have somebody else plan because they really don't really know what they are doing. I think that you could probably talk to different people to see if there is anything that they can do or somebody to help out.
